In a significant step toward enhancing access to cryptocurrency trading in Asia, OSL Digital Securities, Hong Kong’s regulated crypto broker, has expanded its over-the-counter (OTC) offerings to include Toncoin (TON), the native token of The Open Network (TON).

This move, announced in a press release on December 13, aims to meet the rising demand for digital assets in the region while providing professional investors with secure and diversified trading opportunities.

Effective immediately, eligible investors can now trade Toncoin against major currencies like USD, USDT, and HKD on OSL’s trading platform. The service is designed with a focus on ease of access and security, including features such as custodial services and seamless fiat on/off-ramp options. This addition is part of OSL’s broader strategy to cater to the growing appetite for high-quality crypto assets.

Guoliang Hao, Chief Business Officer of OSL Digital Securities, emphasized the firm’s customer-centric approach: “We are committed to actively listening to our customers and strive to provide secure and easy access to quality tokens that enable them to capitalize on market opportunities and growth potential.”

OSL’s decision to integrate Toncoin comes on the heels of significant developments within The Open Network. Backed by major players in the crypto space, TON has garnered considerable attention, particularly for its strong ties to the widely popular messaging platform Telegram.

In May 2024, The Open Network secured over $250 million in funding from Pantera Capital, a prominent venture capital firm based in California. Pantera’s investment was driven by the belief that TON has the potential to bring cryptocurrency to the masses, leveraging its integration within Telegram to facilitate widespread adoption.

More recently, in December, reports revealed that Pantera Capital had raised an additional $20 million to further support TON and Toncoin. While specific details of the funding remain undisclosed, the continued backing from a heavyweight like Pantera underscores TON’s growing credibility and potential.

The inclusion of Toncoin in OSL’s OTC services is not just a business move—it represents a critical milestone in bridging cryptocurrency with mainstream adoption. With over 800 million active users on Telegram, The Open Network has a unique advantage in introducing blockchain technology and digital assets to a vast audience.

Pantera Capital’s confidence in TON stems from its usability and scalability, key factors that make it a strong candidate for driving global adoption.

TON’s blockchain architecture, coupled with its seamless integration with Telegram, provides a platform for both developers and users to engage with blockchain solutions in a way that feels intuitive and accessible.

As one of Asia’s leading regulated digital asset brokers, OSL’s decision to support Toncoin reflects the growing institutional interest in blockchain ecosystems tied to practical, real-world use cases.

The firm’s regulated status provides professional investors with a secure environment to explore emerging opportunities in the crypto space, making it a trusted gateway for regional market participants.

By incorporating Toncoin, OSL is not only broadening its portfolio but also contributing to the diversification of the digital asset market in Hong Kong and beyond. Its offerings now cater to an even wider range of professional investors, helping them navigate and capitalize on the evolving crypto landscape.

The addition of Toncoin marks a pivotal moment for both OSL and The Open Network. For OSL, it represents a strategic step forward in its mission to offer comprehensive digital asset services in Asia. For TON, it’s yet another leap in its journey to becoming a mainstream cryptocurrency, backed by significant venture capital and a powerful ally in Telegram.
