Nigeria and India have taken a significant step toward deepening their bilateral relationship by signing three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in areas of cultural exchange, customs collaboration, and survey cooperation.
The signing ceremony, held on Friday in Abuja, marked a new chapter in the long-standing partnership between the two nations, which share a rich history of diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties.
The agreements were signed by Nigeria’s Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dumoma Ahmed, and India’s Secretary of Economic Relations, Dammu Ravi, representing their respective countries.
In his address during the ceremony, Ambassador Ahmed emphasized the enduring relationship between Nigeria and India, built on a foundation of shared values, mutual respect, and common aspirations for democracy and economic progress.
He described the MoUs as a testament to the commitment of both nations to deepen their cooperation in areas that hold strategic importance for their development goals.
“These agreements reflect our shared vision for growth, innovation, and sustainable development,” Ahmed stated. “They are symbols of our mutual desire to strengthen ties and enhance the well-being of our citizens.”
Ahmed also highlighted recent high-level diplomatic engagements, including President Bola Tinubu’s participation in the G20 Summit and the upcoming visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as evidence of the growing importance of the Nigeria-India partnership.
