On Wednesday night, Real Madrid faced Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey, with Carlo Ancelotti opting for a heavily rotated squad. With Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez starting on the bench, Dani Carvajal sidelined due to injury, and Fede Valverde rested, the 24-year-old winger had the honor of captaining the team for the first time.

“It’s something very special,” he said. “After so much time here and at 24 years old, playing my first game as captain is a source of pride for me and my family. “I’m happy with the team, with being able to reach a semi-final of the Cup as captain of the biggest club in the world. It’s something inexplicable. I’m living it, and it’s something I’ve never dreamed of or imagined,” Vinicius added.
He also looked ahead to his next milestone, set to reach 300 appearances for the club in the coming days. “Next game I’ll reach 300 games, and I already want 400 and 500. I want to make history at this club.”
Vinicius Jr. will be back in action on Saturday, March 1, when Real Madrid travels to Benito Villamarín Stadium to take on Real Betis. Following that, Los Blancos will host Atletico Madrid on Tuesday in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
