China has called on the European Union to cease imposing sanctions on its companies and tarnishing its global reputation, according to a statement from the country’s commerce ministry on Tuesday. This appeal comes after Chinese businesses and individuals were included in the EU’s latest round of sanctions against Russia.
A spokesperson for the ministry reiterated China’s strong opposition to unilateral sanctions that lack a foundation in international law and have not been authorized by the United Nations Security Council.
According to Beijing, such measures not only undermine global trade norms but also strain diplomatic and economic ties between China and the EU.
