Manchester United have announced that Brazilian winger Antony has completed a loan move to La Liga side Real Betis. The 24-year-old will spend the remainder of the 2024/25 season with Manuel Pellegrini’s team, with the transfer pending final international clearance.

Antony, who arrived at United in a high-profile £85 million ($99 million) move from Ajax, has struggled to live up to expectations at Old Trafford. Often labeled as one of the club’s most underwhelming signings, the winger failed to establish himself as a regular starter.

This season, Antony hasn’t made a single Premier League start, which underscores the difficulty he faced in securing his place in Erik ten Hag’s plans.

The loan move offers Antony a chance to revive his career under Pellegrini’s guidance in Seville. Following his medical, he was officially unveiled as a Real Betis player. In their announcement, United extended their best wishes, stating: “Everybody at United would like to wish Antony the best of luck for his spell in Seville.”

Antony will be looking to make an immediate impact as Betis continue their La Liga campaign. His debut could come as early as next weekend when the team faces Athletic Club.
