Donald Trump landed in Washington on Saturday, preparing for a series of events and celebrations leading up to his inauguration as president. Accompanied by his wife, Melania, and other family members, Trump arrived at Dulles International Airport and headed straight to a private event at his golf club in Virginia, which included a fireworks display.
In an interview with NBC News earlier on Saturday, Trump revealed ambitious plans for his first day back in the Oval Office. He stated his intention to sign a record-breaking number of executive orders immediately after delivering his inaugural address on Monday.
While the exact number of orders remains undecided, Trump confidently suggested it would be “record-setting” and could exceed 100.
The orders are expected to reverse many of the policies introduced by outgoing President Joe Biden, signaling a sharp policy shift. Among Trump’s top priorities is a sweeping immigration crackdown. Speaking to NBC, he vowed that deportations of undocumented migrants would begin “very, very quickly,” although he declined to specify which cities would be targeted.

Trump’s hardline immigration policies have already sparked concerns. Tom Homan, Trump’s newly appointed “border czar,” acknowledged media leaks about a possible raid in Chicago next week. In response, the administration is rethinking its initial moves.
Homan assured that enforcement efforts would focus on individuals deemed “public safety threats” and would proceed “uninhibited by prior administration guidelines.”
Unlike recent inaugurations, which have been held outdoors on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, Trump announced on Friday that his ceremony would be moved indoors due to unusually cold weather. “The forecast is looking very cold, and we felt it could pose risks for attendees,” Trump explained in an NBC interview.
Trump’s schedule over the weekend includes a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery and a rally with supporters in Washington. On Sunday evening, he is also slated to speak at a dinner event.
However, his arrival has not been without controversy. Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Washington on Saturday, voicing their opposition to Trump’s policies. The protests highlight the deep political divisions that continue to shape the nation’s landscape.
