Everton Football Club has reappointed David Moyes as manager following the sacking of Sean Dyche. The announcement came on Saturday, just days after Dyche’s dismissal, as the Toffees look to turn their fortunes around in a challenging Premier League campaign.
David Moyes, one of the Premier League’s most experienced managers, is back at the club where he built his legacy. Moyes previously managed Everton for 11 years, from 2002 to 2013, overseeing more than 500 matches.
During his first stint, he guided the team to a fourth-place finish in 2005 and an FA Cup final in 2009, earning the admiration of fans and establishing Everton as a competitive force.
“It’s great to be back!” Moyes said. “I enjoyed 11 wonderful and successful years at Everton and didn’t hesitate when I was offered the opportunity to rejoin this great club.”
The club’s executive chairman, Marc Watts, echoed the optimism: “With over a decade of experience at Everton, David is the right leader to propel us through our final season at Goodison Park and into our new stadium. This is a pivotal time in our history, and we’re excited to work with him to lay the foundation for a brighter future.”

Moyes, 61, has been out of work since leaving West Ham at the end of last season. He returns to Everton on a two-and-a-half-year contract, 12 years after departing for a brief and challenging tenure at Manchester United. His first game back in charge will be against Aston Villa on Wednesday, as he begins the task of steering Everton away from the relegation zone.
The decision to bring Moyes back followed the Friedkin Group’s acquisition of the club and Sean Dyche’s dismissal after a poor run of form. Dyche’s tenure ended with just one win in his last 11 matches, leaving Everton teetering just one point above the relegation zone.
Despite reports linking Everton with high-profile names such as Graham Potter and Jose Mourinho, Moyes emerged as the clear choice. Potter opted to join West Ham, while Mourinho distanced himself from the role. Everton is set to leave the historic Goodison Park at the end of the season, moving into the state-of-the-art Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium.
