Texas Man Arrested in Houston, Charged with Attempted Support for ISIS and Plotting Terrorist Attack
In a significant security operation, a 28-year-old Houston resident, Anas Said, was arrested by the FBI last week for allegedly planning violent attacks in support of the Islamic State (ISIS) from his apartment.
Federal authorities report that Said was actively researching methods for carrying out a terrorist attack within the Houston area, specifically targeting local military recruitment centers. He is currently in FBI custody and faces charges for attempting to provide material support to ISIS, a designated foreign terrorist organization.
The FBI’s Houston division has revealed that Said not only researched ways to execute a large-scale attack but also discussed offering his home as a sanctuary for ISIS operatives. His ambitions reportedly included producing ISIS propaganda and, alarmingly, expressing a desire to conduct a “9/11-style” attack if he were to acquire the necessary resources.
Special Agent in Charge Douglas Williams shared that Said admitted these plans while in custody, detailing his intentions to target both civilians and military-related sites, Fox News.

The FBI took Said into custody at his apartment complex, following extensive investigations that indicated a credible threat. Said’s arrest has been praised by the FBI and other law enforcement agencies as an essential step in preventing a potential terrorist incident in Houston.
The local FBI division publicly celebrated the successful operation, stating, “We stopped a potential terrorist attack from happening right here in Houston! Any day we can publicly say that is a good day.”
The arrest of Anas Said underscores the ongoing efforts by federal authorities to combat terrorism and thwart extremist activities on U.S. soil.
Although the investigation is still underway, this operation highlights the importance of surveillance, intelligence gathering, and swift action in preventing threats against the United States. Said’s case is expected to be prosecuted under charges of material support for a terrorist organization, carrying potential federal penalties if convicted.
With this arrest, the FBI has reaffirmed its dedication to identifying and disrupting threats posed by extremist ideologies. Authorities continue to encourage public vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of all Americans.
