The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has recently forged a groundbreaking agreement with Dangote Refinery to lift petroleum products directly from the facility. This new collaboration aims to streamline the fuel supply chain, reduce operational costs, and ensure a consistent, affordable supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and other key petroleum products nationwide.
This strategic partnership was announced on Monday by IPMAN’s National President, Abubakar Garima, during a press briefing in Abuja following a meeting of the Association’s National Working Committee.
Garima described the agreement as the product of several months of negotiations and deliberations with Aliko Dangote and his management team in Lagos. He noted that the collaboration would make a significant difference for IPMAN’s extensive network of members and retail outlets.
“After meeting with Aliko Dangote and his management team in Lagos, we are pleased to announce that Dangote Refinery has agreed to supply IPMAN with PMS, AGO, and DPK directly for distribution to our depots and retail outlets,” Garima said.
He emphasized that this arrangement not only supports IPMAN’s distribution needs but also aligns with broader goals for Nigeria’s energy independence and economic stability.
With over 30,000 IPMAN members and 150,000 retail outlets across Nigeria, the association plays a critical role in the country’s fuel distribution network. This new arrangement is expected to bolster IPMAN’s capacity to meet the demand for petroleum products more efficiently by eliminating middlemen, which will likely lead to significant cost savings.

Garima encouraged IPMAN members to embrace this partnership with Dangote Refinery, highlighting the benefits of direct sourcing from Nigerian refineries. “IPMAN members should rely on Dangote Refinery and Nigerian refineries for white products, creating more job opportunities and supporting President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda,” Garima added, referring to the administration’s broader economic growth and stability objectives.
As the largest refinery in Africa and Europe, Dangote Refinery has already commenced production of essential fuels such as petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel. The facility’s production capacity not only meets domestic demand but also has the potential to serve markets across the continent.
By supplying products directly to IPMAN, the refinery strengthens Nigeria’s self-reliance in petroleum production, reducing the need for costly imports.
