According to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea recently engaged in talks with Juventus regarding a potential player swap involving Raheem Sterling and Federico Chiesa.
However, the negotiations collapsed primarily due to discrepancies in wage demands and the perceived value of the two players. Sterling’s salary at Chelsea significantly exceeds Chiesa’s earnings at Juventus, creating a financial hurdle in the deal.
Despite this setback, Chelsea remains interested in securing Chiesa, and a future attempt to sign him could still be on the cards. However, any further pursuit of the Italian winger hinges on whether the Blues can offload Sterling, either to Juventus or another club, during the current transfer window.
The situation has become more pressing with the arrival of Pedro Neto at Stamford Bridge. The 24-year-old winger’s inclusion increases the likelihood of Sterling being moved on this summer.
