Since his remarkable debut at Camp Nou at just 16 in 2019, Ansu Fati’s promising career has been plagued by a series of unfortunate injuries. The young talent’s journey has been marred by setbacks that have hampered his ability to realize his full potential.
In 2020, a severe meniscus tear in his knee sidelined Ansu for nearly a year, necessitating surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation process. This injury marked the beginning of a challenging period for the youngster.
Following his recovery, he faced additional hurdles with recurring hamstring and muscle injuries, which further impeded his progress. In an effort to provide him with more playing time and aid his development, Barcelona decided to loan Ansu to Brighton last summer.
However, his time in the Premier League was again disrupted by injury. Ansu suffered another hamstring problem during his loan spell, which saw him sidelined for three months.
These persistent fitness issues limited his playing time to just over 1000 minutes during his stint with Brighton, preventing him from making the desired impact in England’s top flight.

Despite these challenges, Ansu returned to Barcelona for pre-season training with renewed determination, aiming to impress the club’s new manager, Hansi Flick. Unfortunately, his efforts were thwarted by a foot injury that he sustained during training.
Barcelona released an official statement regarding Ansu’s latest setback: “In Tuesday’s training session, first team player Ansu Fati injured the sole of his right foot. He will follow a conservative treatment plan in Barcelona, and his return to training will be decided by his recovery.”

Despite Ansu’s clear desire to remain at Barcelona and succeed with the Catalan giants, the club has reportedly informed him that he does not feature in Hansi Flick’s plans for the future. This revelation has opened the door to potential transfers, with several clubs expressing interest in the talented forward.
Among the interested parties is Fenerbahce, where manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly considering a move for Ansu as he looks to bolster his squad for the upcoming season.
Ansu’s latest injury has cast a shadow over his immediate future. If the injury proves to be serious, he may find himself in a state of limbo until the January transfer window opens, leaving his career progression uncertain.
