Brazilian international Neymar is currently on the path to recovery from knee ligament damage. Now signed with Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal, his fitness issues have limited him to just five appearances since his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain. At 32, Neymar is nearing the end of a challenging recovery journey.
Speaking on the Charla Podcast, Flamengo president Rodolfo Landim discussed Neymar’s potential return to fitness and the possibility of him playing at the Maracana for Flamengo in the near future. Landim shared,
“I walk down the street and people ask me when I’m going to sign Neymar. And I say: ‘Guys, Neymar earns more per month than two Flamengo salaries. People don’t realize the magnitude of things, the amounts involved.”
“The unofficial information is that he earns 70 million per month. I think Neymar is absolutely outstanding, a top player in the world. We have to see how he recovers, but I think he’ll recover well because he’s a light player. I met him in the locker room and he said he thinks he’ll be back in full condition by mid-September.”

Neymar has recently hinted at the possibility of moving to Flamengo. During a visit to the Maracana, he donned the jersey of fellow Santos academy graduate Gabigol and expressed his long-standing desire to play for Flamengo.
“I’ve always said that I want to play for Flamengo. It’s obvious that it’s the second team in my heart because the first is Santos,” Neymar stated.
Currently, Neymar is contracted with Al-Hilal until the summer of 2025, with an option for a further 12-month extension. This timeline leaves the door open for a potential return to Brazil as a free agent after proving his worth in Saudi Arabia.
As Neymar continues his rehabilitation, the football world eagerly watches his progress, anticipating his return to full fitness and pondering his next career move. Whether he remains with Al-Hilal, transitions to Flamengo, or explores other opportunities, Neymar’s journey is a testament to his resilience and enduring talent.
