Simon Ekpa-Led Biafra Government-in-Exile Claims US Support for Biafra Liberation
The Simon Ekpa-led Biafra Republic Government In-Exile (BRGIE) has announced that the United States government may soon issue supportive statements regarding Biafra’s liberation efforts.
This assertion was made by Simon Ekpa, the Prime Minister of the self-proclaimed Biafra government, in a statement released on Thursday, Daily post report.
According to Ekpa, a series of strategic meetings involving US congressional officials, lobbyists, and BRGIE stakeholders have set the stage for this potential diplomatic backing.
Ekpa detailed the recent high-level engagements, which took place during the week of July 8, 2024. These meetings included discussions with prominent international journalists, senior US Congressional officials, and key leaders from Washington, DC think tanks, all orchestrated by BRGIE lobbyists.
He highlighted the significance of these discussions, noting the interest shown by US officials in issuing favorable statements concerning BRGIE and Biafra-related issues in the coming months.

“The results already achieved demonstrated the success of my administration as the Prime Minister of Biafra with my ‘multi-dimensional approach’ to achieve Biafran independence, and the importance of the lobbying effort,” Ekpa stated.
He emphasized that the progress made underscores the effectiveness of his administration’s strategies in garnering international support for Biafra’s independence.
In Nigeria, there has been a growing resurgence of calls for Biafra’s liberation, alongside increasing demands for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
These calls have recently been amplified by South-East governors and members of the National Assembly from the region, who have united in their appeal for Kanu’s freedom. Despite these internal pressures, the Nigerian Federal Government has yet to issue a statement addressing the push for Kanu’s release.
The BRGIE’s efforts to secure international support highlight the complex dynamics of the Biafra independence movement, which continues to gain momentum both domestically and internationally.
As the situation evolves, the potential involvement of the US government could play a critical role in shaping the future of the Biafran cause.
