The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced plans to revoke the driver’s licenses of persistently non-compliant drivers. FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, revealed this during a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, where he discussed the outcomes of the 2024 Eid-el Kabir Special Patrol Operations held from Friday, June 14 to Sunday, June 23.
Marshal Mohammed emphasized the critical importance of collective participation and collaboration among all stakeholders to enhance road safety. He noted that the corps had recognized the increasing need for such collaborative efforts more than ever before.
The FRSC utilized these collaborative efforts as a pivotal tool to achieve significant progress during the specified period.
Among the key activities highlighted was the strengthening of the ongoing Inter-agency Joint Task Force (JTF), aimed at curbing the reckless behavior of trailer drivers and enforcing compliance against the indiscriminate use of trailers to transport human beings.
Mohammed stated that these efforts also included aggressive public enlightenment campaigns, robust media engagement, and proactive advocacy campaigns conducted in motor parks across the country.

Furthermore, the FRSC undertook the identification and strategic mapping of key routes nationwide, ensuring the effective deployment of appropriate personnel and logistics to monitor and manage these routes.
Mohammed stressed the importance of engaging with the leadership of various transport unions and security agencies, including State Traffic Management Agencies and the FCT Department of Road Traffic Services.
This engagement aimed to ensure that all stakeholders, both in the public and private sectors, play a crucial role in promoting highway safety.
In addition to conventional enforcement measures, the FRSC has intensified its efforts by initiating the prosecution of recalcitrant drivers through mobile court operations across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The FRSC is committed to taking more drastic measures, including the suspension and revocation of national driver’s licenses, to ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
Prior to the commencement of the 2024 Sallah special patrol, Corps Marshal Mohammed spoke about the goals set to reduce road traffic crashes. The FRSC has taken significant steps to achieve these goals by implementing stricter enforcement measures and engaging in comprehensive public awareness campaigns.
