Microsoft Corp has alerted a number of its customers that a Russian state-sponsored hacking group has infiltrated its internal systems and accessed their emails, according to a Bloomberg News report on Thursday, citing a company spokesperson.
The tech giant is also offering previously notified clients detailed information on the specific data that was compromised, the report stated.
According to NDTV, despite repeated attempts for comment, Microsoft has not yet responded to email requests from Reuters, and calls to company spokespersons have gone unanswered.

This incident echoes a similar breach reported in January, when a Russian state-sponsored group hacked into Microsoft’s corporate systems, extracting emails and documents from staff accounts.
Microsoft’s ongoing battle against such cyber threats underscores the growing challenges in securing sensitive information against sophisticated state-sponsored cyber attacks.
