Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha appeared destined to join Bayern Munich last August, but the transfer fell apart at the final stage. Despite this setback, the Portuguese international continued to shine for Fulham, showcasing his resilience and skill.

Now, Bayern Munich is reportedly reigniting their interest in the 28-year-old, with German sources suggesting a move to the Allianz Arena could materialize this week.

Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Palhinha has agreed to personal terms with Bayern, and the transfer fee is expected to be around £38 million ($48.5 million).

This acquisition could be a significant boost for Bayern’s new manager, Vincent Kompany, who faces high expectations and scrutiny after his stint at Burnley ended in relegation from the Premier League.

According to Goal, Palhinha’s journey to this point has been marked by steady progress. He joined Fulham from Sporting Lisbon in 2022 for £20 million ($25.4 million). Standing at 6ft 3in, the defensive midfielder has proven to be a formidable presence on the pitch.

As transfer talks continue, Palhinha remains focused on his international duties. He hopes to play a crucial role in Portugal’s Euro 2024 campaign, where Roberto Martinez’s team will face the Czech Republic, Turkey, and Georgia in the group stage.

The upcoming international fixtures provide Palhinha with an opportunity to further impress and solidify his reputation ahead of a potential move to one of Europe’s elite clubs.
