On Thursday, Pakistan successfully launched a multi-mission communication satellite, aimed at enhancing internet connectivity across the country, with the assistance of its long-standing ally, China. This marks the second satellite Pakistan has sent into orbit within the span of a month.
The satellite, known as PAKSAT MM1, was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center located in China’s southwestern Sichuan province, as reported by China’s state-run Xinhua news agency. The satellite successfully entered its designated orbit shortly after the launch.
According to a statement from Pakistan Television, the state-run broadcaster, PAKSAT MM1 is expected to significantly improve internet services nationwide.
The satellite will enhance television broadcasting, cellular phone connectivity, and broadband services across Pakistan. It is scheduled to begin service in August, as reported by Dawn newspaper.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the nation on this significant achievement. He expressed optimism that the satellite would provide the fastest internet facilities throughout the country, as reported by the state-run Associated Press Pakistan.
