Brydon Carse, a notable England bowler who has participated in 14 one-day internationals and three T20 internationals, has been handed a three-month ban for placing bets on cricket matches.
Between 2017 and 2019, Carse placed a total of 303 bets on various cricket games, though none of these bets involved matches in which he was directly participating.
According to cricket’s stringent betting integrity rules, no professional player, coach, or member of support staff is allowed to place bets on cricket events anywhere globally.
Carse’s infraction led to a 16-month ban, with 13 months of this suspension being deferred for two years. His three-month suspension will be effective from May 28 to August 28, 2024.
This suspension comes at a significant time in Carse’s career. The 28-year-old fast bowler will miss the opportunity to potentially make his Test debut for England in the upcoming home series against the West Indies in July, Skysport Report.

His first eligible international game following the suspension will be the second Test against Sri Lanka at Lord’s, starting on August 29, 2024.
Additionally, Carse will be absent from the entirety of the 2024 edition of The Hundred, where he was set to play for the Northern Superchargers.
The Cricket Regulator acknowledged Carse’s acceptance of the charges and his full cooperation during the investigation.
They noted that he demonstrated substantial remorse for his actions. Provided that Carse refrains from any further violations of the anti-corruption rules over the next two years, he will not incur any additional penalties.
The regulator also stated there was no evidence to suggest that Carse’s betting activities posed any broader integrity concerns within the sport.
