Spanish football manager Unai Emery has signed a new five-year contract with Aston Villa, extending his tenure with the club until 2027.
Emery, who has had a transformative impact on the team, led Aston Villa to a remarkable fourth-place finish in the Premier League last season. This achievement has secured the club’s first-ever qualification for the Champions League, marking a historic milestone.
The extension of Emery’s contract was initially reported by The Athletic back in April. The club’s ambitious owners, Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, were eager to ensure the continuation of his leadership and were keen to negotiate a prolonged commitment. Their efforts have now come to fruition with the finalization of this new deal.
“We are building something special here at Aston Villa with Unai at its core and we are delighted that he has signed a new deal with the club until 2029. As we move into our historic, 150th anniversary year, there is a lot to look forward to with Unai at the helm”, Sawiris said.

Unai Emery took over as Aston Villa manager in October 2022, replacing Steven Gerrard. Emery, who had won the Europa League with Villarreal the previous year, boasts four Europa League titles, including three with Sevilla.
In his first season, he led Villa from 17th to 7th place, securing European football for the first time in 13 years. Under his leadership, Villa reached the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League before being eliminated by Olympiacos.
