12 Passengers Injured as Turbulence Strikes Qatar Airways Flight from Doha to Dublin

In a recent incident, twelve individuals, including six crew members, sustained injuries when a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Dublin encountered severe turbulence.

Dublin Airport took to X (previously known as Twitter) to confirm the details of the incident. According to their post, the turbulence struck while the aircraft was flying over Turkey, injuring six passengers and six crew members.

The airport’s team has been actively assisting the affected passengers and airline staff upon their arrival in Dublin. The airport’s dedicated personnel are providing comprehensive support to ensure the well-being and comfort of those involved in the unfortunate event.

“Qatar Airways flight QR017 from Doha landed safely as scheduled at Dublin Airport shortly before 13.00 on Sunday. Upon landing, the aircraft was met by emergency services, including Airport Police and our Fire and Rescue department, due to 6 passengers and 6 crew [12 total] on board reporting injuries after the aircraft experienced turbulence while airborne over Turkey,” the statement said.

This event occurred just five days after a fatal turbulence incident on a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore, which resulted in one passenger’s death and numerous injuries.

A Singapore Airlines flight carrying 211 passengers experienced severe turbulence, necessitating an emergency landing in Bangkok.

Tragically, the turbulence claimed the life of a 73-year-old British man and resulted in 20 others being admitted to intensive care. The violent shaking caused by the turbulence led to serious injuries among both passengers and crew members, including skull fractures, brain trauma, and spinal injuries.

The cabin was thrown into chaos as individuals were violently tossed around, underscoring the severity of the incident and the unpredictable nature of in-flight turbulence. This tragic event has highlighted the critical need for adherence to safety protocols and the use of seatbelts during flights.
